It was very easy to use and I had no trouble with it. In order to get full value out of it, however, you will need to make return trips on each day you use it. I mainly took one way trips, and I calculated that I had about $70 worth of unused value when I got back.

Great value! Travel is so easy. We love using the trains. Our only disappointment was that many trains no longer have more than one 1st class car. Times have changed. We will use the rail pass every time we come to England.

The rail pass works well. Buying the pass was a little tricky from 'a' website. Finally worked it out and the passes arrived in good time. Using the passes was easy. The railway staff seemed friendlier this time. I'm not sure how much money was saved but the convenience was well worth it. Wasn't aware of reserving seats. The Paddington-Oxford train was almost full with many reserved seats. Next time I'd wait for the next rain rather than get on late. That was the only time it was an issue.

We enjoyed 8 days in and around London using the Britrail pass without having to use the tube (a choice we made). Our hotel was near Kensington Olympia station and from there we traveled to Cambridge, Salisbury and Bath Spa and Stonehenge (local bus). Also went to Oxford and Bourton-on-water as well as Brighton and Southampton. We used the pass to Victoria and Waterloo and Clapham Junction stations to get to the tourist attractions including Westminster Pier for a Thames River cruise included in hop on hop off tickets that we bought. We began and ended our memorable trip from Heathrow airport using the Heathrow Express train included in the BritRail London Plus Pass a truly worthwhile way to see London and the surrounding areas. Excellent value and highly recommended.

Buying the rail pass was the single best investment of my trip. British Rail makes train travel so easy, even for a directionally challenged person like me - I didn’t get lost once. The only inconveniece I encountered was on exiting the station. There are multiple scanners at the exit turnstiles, but you can’t use them to exit without a transit card. You have to seek out a railway sraff person to let you out. It’s not a deal breaker by any means, it just takes up a little more time. If, when, I go back, I will definitely purchase another BritRail pass.

My husband and I were delighted with the ease of use of our Senior London Plus Brit Rail passes for visiting friends in Oxford, Cambridge, Southampton, and London. We purposely traveled between 10 AM and 3 PM and had no problems either with long waits for trains or with finding seats. I'm sure there are cheaper ways to travel in Britain, but with our physical limitations and two week window, the senior discount coupled with the comfortable trains made the Rail Passes a great choice.
